On the Atlantic Ocean we could not avoid being pummelled by the high waves, estimated at around 5m and very high winds. In the darkness the ship pitched and rolled severely with spray from the bow hitting the waves, travelling down the ship. It was around 04:30 that we arrived at Bodo and then continued to Ornes arriving at 08:40 (2 hours late) but fortunately we had passed through the worst of it. Brilliant sunshine and a calm sea accompanied our crossing of the Arctic Circle at 10:15. Nesna was reached at 11:40 and by 13:00 we were docked at Sandnessjoen, a major deep sea port adjacent to the Atlantic Coast Highway. At 13:30 we slipped into the Inner Passage and continued southwards.

Brønnøysund was reached by 15:50. It is a small coastal settlement with extensive rebuilding to its small waterfront. An archipelago of small islands protect it from the open water of the Inner Passage. It clearly had a fishing heritage but very little remains and it operates more as a hub for ferries. We continued southwards and arrived in Rorvik at 21:00 for the last port of call of the day. We continued overnight to Trondheim.
